Displacement from Etsy and a new chapter
Welcome to our new home! It's been a long time coming, but I FINALLY got the website completed here on Shopify after previous attempts with Wordpress and Wix in the past. The main hurdle I encountered with the other builds was shipping. The original Wordpress theme I was using ended up being a bit confusing and required some code, which I'm not skilled at. Then with Wix, they didn't offer carrier calculated shipping at the time, so I shelved it. Meanwhile, Etsy was fulfilling all my needs and was simple to use. Plus, they have great SEO so I just kinda got comfortable with that and stayed put. Fast forward 13 years...Etsy announces they're prohibiting products like mine from their platform! WHAT?! This of course put myself and many others into a panicked frenzy, as a lot of us relied on Etsy as a main source of our income. Even indie makers with their own websites have said that Etsy made up a large percentage of their sales. So, this was a really abrupt and disappointing situation, but on a positive note it did light a fire under my ass to get the damn website going, STAT! So here it is :)
The content & whatnot
I know my product photos on Etsy weren't the best & their sizing was random...and that's how they migrated into Shopify lol. But hey, they work for now. Please bear with me as I continue to evolve the website and replace the photos with better ones over time. And the blog...I'm excited to finally have one so I can share updates and other info with you all! From technical talk to sale announcements, new product releases, review articles and videos, maybe some 'how it's made' videos, etc etc. So, be sure to subscribe to get notifications of new posts!
A special thank you
Shout out to my good friend Clay for helping me with the website. He's a top tier web designer and single dad, and took the time to assist me with the creation of this site amidst his busy schedule. He tolerated my nitpickyness with image resizing, customization requiring code, shipping research, etc. Thanks, man. I sincerely appreciate it!
